The Fresno County Special Education Local Area Plan (SELPA) is pleased to offer the school districts, families, and the community this website to disseminate resources and information that can benefit our students within the Central Valley. We adhere to the belief that working together, we can make a difference within the community we serve. Who We Are

The Fresno County SELPA is a collaborative network made up of 32 local education agencies, as well as, Fresno County Office of Education special education continuum of services for individuals with exceptional needs from birth through 21 years of age. The SELPA provides direct and indirect services for students with disabilities to ensure that pupils receive a free and appropriate education. The SELPA also is a resource for the community on issues related to special education and on the policy bridging special education and general education.

SELPA Goals
  • Foster cooperation within the local districts for coordination between regular and special education.
  • Collaborate with parents / caregivers and community agencies.
  • Ensure full continuum of programs for each child with exceptional needs.
  • Provide budget planning, review, and fiscal management.
  • Ensure high quality special education programs, services, in the most effective, efficient, and cost-effective manner practicable.
Legal Notice

Federal and State laws require each public school system is responsible to provide free and appropriate education for children with disabilities. If you know of any child between birth and age 21 years of age who may qualify for special education programs in public schools, please contact your local district or the SELPA office.
