Kearney Mansion Museum

After visiting the historic Kearney Mansion Museum, make sure you also visit the Central Library of Fresno.  The Historical Society and the Central Library worked together to design a History Hunt activity for you to earn an extra Passport stamp.  Enjoy the hunt!

This is the main entrance to Kearney Mansion.  Kearney Mansion was completed in 1903.  Through the door is the Entry Hall.  If you look to the right you see the porch and the west side of Kearney Park.  Behind you is Mr. Theo Kearney's front yard, that palm tree in the center is over one hundred years old, in fact, most of the trees you see in the park were planted around 1892.  To the left of the door is more of the wrap-around porch and the east side of Kearney Park.

(Front Entrance) This is the Entry Hall of Kearney Mansion.  The wallpaper is original and was bought in Paris in 1902. The furniture was hand-carved in Germany.  In front of you is the stairway that goes upstairs to the bedrooms and the attic.  If you look to the right, you see Mr. Kearney's Private Office.  Behind you is the main entrance to the Mansion and a very pretty view of Kearney Park.  On the left is the Reception Room.  This is where Mr. Kearney would entertain any guests who came to visit him.

(Mr. Kearney's Office) This is Mr. Kearney's Private Office.  In front of you is Mr. Kearney's desk and above it is a watercolor drawing of Chateau Fresno, the castle Mr. Kearney wanted to build in Fresno, but never did.  The door leads to the Entry Hall.  To the right, is one of Mr. Kearney's bookcases, with a picture of the Park above, before the trees were planted.   This doorway goes into the Estate Office.  Behind you, you'll see more bookcases.  To the left is the window with a wonderful view of Kearney Park.

(Historical Society) In front of you is the main entrance to the Fresno City and County Historical Society's office.  Our office is located in the Servant's Quarters of Kearney Mansion.  If you look to the right, you see the back of Kearney Mansion as well as Kearney Park.   Behind you is the Ice House and east side of Kearney Park.  To the left is where all of the outbuildings for Mr. Kearney's ranch, the Fruit Vale Estate, were located.  Some of the buildings were a blacksmith shop, stables, a general store and a post office.
