African American Museum

In 1984, the African American Historical & Cultural Museum was established to provide a vehicle for African Americans that had made significant contributions to the richness of the San Joaquin Valley.

Our first floor gallery features 3 cultural exhibits per year, along with our gift shop that features African artifacts, greeting cards, sculptures, and African clothing.  Our second floor gallery features the museum's permanent pictorial exhibit, which includes artifacts of our pilgrimage and a beautiful children's library.  We also provide educational resources, which include video presentations and story telling.

Our most popular tours are during January for Martin Luther King's birthday celebration and in February for Black History Month.
